ACEA SPECIFICATIONS -GUIDELINES FOR EUROPEAN MOTOR VEHICLES

The European market is particularly influenced by three main factors:

– Extended oil change intervals

– Fuel economy

– Composition of exhaust gases

Various areas of application of motor oils are indicated by letters in the European classification ACEA 2016:

A/B for passenger cars gasoline and diesel engines

C for passenger cars with particulate filter

E for diesel commercial vehicles

ACEA Specifications

ACEA A/B for petrol and diesel engines

A1/B1

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; for use with extended oil change intervals in gasoline and diesel engines, both for cars and vans. Specially formulated, low friction oils with very low viscosity and High Temperature High Share (HTHS) of 2.6 mPa*s for xW-20 and 2.9-3.5 mPa*s for all other viscosity grades. These oils are not suitable for all car engines. For exact specifications, see your vehicle owner’s manual or check with your dealer. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

A3/B3

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; for use in high performance gasoline and diesel engines, both for passenger cars and light vans. Consider extended oil change intervals specified by engine manufacturers. Low viscosity oils can be used all year round. In addition, these oils are particularly suitable for severe operating conditions specified by engine manufacturers.

A3/B4

Shear stable “STAY in GRA DE” oil; recommended for use in high quality gasoline and direct injection diesel engines and for applications described in section A3/B3.

AS/BS

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; for use with extended oil change intervals in gasoline and diesel engines, both for cars and light vans. Allows the use of low friction, low viscosity oils with a High Temperature High Share (HTHS) of 2.9 to 3.5 mPa*s. These oils are not suitable for all car engines. For exact specifications, see your vehicle owner’s manual or check with your dealer. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

ACEA C oils are suitable for catalytic converters

C1

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; for use as catalyst compatible oils in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance gasoline and diesel engines for both passenger cars and light vans with a minimum HTHS share of 2.9 mPa*s. They extend the life of the DPF and TWC while saving fuel. Attention: These oils have the lowest SAPS limits and are not suitable for all vehicle engines. For exact specifications, see your vehicle owner’s manual or contact your vehicle dealer directly.

C2

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; for use as catalyst compatible oils in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance gasoline and diesel engines for both passenger cars and light vans with a minimum HTHS share of 2.9 mPa*s. They extend the life of the DPF and TWC while saving fuel. Attention: These oils are not suitable for all car engines. For exact specifications, see your vehicle owner’s manual or contact your vehicle dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

C3

,,STAY in GRADE” shear stable oils for use as catalyst compatible oils in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance gasoline and diesel engines for both passenger cars and light vans with a minimum share of HTHS 3.5 mPa*s. They extend the life of the DPF and TWC. Attention: These oils are not suitable for all car engines. For exact information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle or contact your dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

C4

,,STAY in GRADE” shear stable oils for use as catalyst compatible oils in vehicles with DPF and TWC in high performance gasoline and diesel engines, both passenger cars and light vans, which have low SAPS values with the minimum share of HTHS van is 3.5 mPa*s. They extend the life of the DPF and TWC. Attention: These oils are not suitable for all car engines. For exact information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle or contact your dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

ACEA E for heavy duty commercial vehicle diesel engines

E4

Shear stable “STAY in GRADE” oils guarantee excellent piston cleanliness, very good wear protection and stable lubrication. In addition, they prevent the deposition of soot. They are particularly suitable for use in heavy duty diesel engines that meet Euro I, II, 111, IV and V emission standards (even under the most severe conditions). These oils are designed for engines without diesel particulate filters, for select engines with an EGR system and engines with NOx SCR emission reduction systems. Engine manufacturers’ recommendations for use may vary. For exact information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle or contact your dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

E6

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; guarantee excellent piston cleanliness, very good wear protection and stable lubricity. In addition, they prevent the deposition of soot. They are particularly suitable for use in heavy duty diesel engines that meet Euro I, II, Ill, IV and V emission standards (even under the most severe conditions). E6 is recommended for engines equipped with diesel particulate filters in combination with sulfur-free fuels. In addition, these oils are designed for engines with an EGR system with or without a diesel particulate filter, as well as for engines with an NOx SCR emission reduction system. Engine manufacturers’ recommendations for use may vary. For exact information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle or contact your dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

E7

Shear resistant “STAY in GRADE” oils; control the cleanliness of the piston and at the same time prevent the formation of mirror surfaces. In addition, these oils are characterized by high wear protection, low levels of turbocharger deposits and stable lubricity. They are particularly suitable for use in heavy duty diesel engines that meet Euro I, II, Ill, IV and V emission standards (even under the most severe conditions). These oils are designed for engines without diesel particulate filters, for a wide range of engines with an EGR system, as well as for engines with NOx SCR emission reduction systems. Engine manufacturers’ recommendations for use may vary. For exact information, please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle or contact your dealer directly. Special permission from the manufacturer is required.

E9

,,STAY in GRADE” shear-resistant oils control piston cleanliness and at the same time prevent the formation of a mirror surface. In addition, these oils are characterized by high wear protection, low levels of turbocharger deposits and stable lubricity. They are particularly suitable for use in heavy duty diesel engines that meet Euro I, II, Ill, IV, V and VI emission standards (even under the most severe conditions). E9 is recommended for engines equipped with particulate filters in combination with sulfur-free fuels.
